DIY Natural Hair Mask Recipe | Remove Buildup and Restore Softness

This DIY natural hair mask recipe is my go-to for a reason — and once you try it, it'll be yours too.
Prep TimePrep Time 5 minutes minutes

Total TimeTotal Time 35 minutes minutes
- 1 cup yogurt 200g
- 1 tbsp honey or sugar (15g)
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar 25g
- 10 drops essential oil optional
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until well combined.
Wet your hair before applying — not soaking wet, just damp. This helps the mask distribute evenly and absorb better.
Working in sections, apply the mask from roots to tips. Really work it into your scalp — that's where the buildup lives and where you'll feel the biggest difference.
Twist your hair up into a top bun and let the mask sit for anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes. The longer you leave it the better. This is a good time to do a face mask, take a bath, or just sit and do nothing for once.
Rinse thoroughly in the shower and follow with shampoo only — no conditioner needed. The honey takes care of the moisture so you won't miss it.
