Tallow Peppermint Lip Balm

Lip balm is a must-have for me, and I've become incredibly loyal to this tallow peppermint version. Made with only nourishing, wholesome ingredients, it’s not only effective but also easy to whip up at home. The combination of tallow and peppermint leaves my lips feeling soft, hydrated, and refreshed.

Equipment

  • Empty Chapstick Containers
  • Melting Vessel
  • Small Saucepan
  • Chapstick Tube Holder, Optional but highly recommended
  • Small Spatula

Ingredients  

  • 15 g Tallow
  • 15 g Beeswax
  • 15 g Shea Butter
  • 20 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil

Instructions 

  1. Remove the lids of 8-10 chapstick tubes, twist until the base is all the way down. Set them up in a holder or on a stable table.
  2. Add a cup of water to a small saucepan and place on high heat.
  3. In a stainless steel vessel with a spout, measure out tallow, beeswax, and shea butter. Place the stainless steel vessel in the saucepan with the water. Let heat until melted.
  4. Once melted, remove from the heat. Let cool down slightly.
  5. Add peppermint essential oil and mix.
  6. Carefully pour the melted mixture into your tubes until they're full to the top.
  7. Keep still and let cool until solid.
  8. Let set for 24 hours. Clean drops, cap, and apply liberally!
