Equipment

  • Small Saucepan
  • Medium-size Stainless Steel Bowl
  • Hand Mixer or Stand Mixer with Whisk Attachment
  • 8oz Glass Jar with a Lid

Ingredients

  • 120 g Tallow
  • 30 g Honey
  • 30 g Coconut Oil
  • 30 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Instructions

  1. Begin by measuring your tallow, coconut oil and honey all in a metal bowl.
  2. Add about 1 cup of water to a saucepan and place it on medium-high heat. Then, place your bowl of ingredients on top of the saucepan, ensuring it sits comfortably above the simmering water, to act as a double boiler. This will allow the fats to melt without direct heat.
  3. Let the fats melt completely until it is liquid. Stir occasionally to ensure it melts evenly.
  4. Once the fats have melted, remove it from the heat and let it cool on the counter or until it reaches a semi-hardened state.
  5. Once the mixture has semi-hardened, add the essential lavender oil.
  6. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, begin whipping the cooled tallow.
  7. Continue to whip until the tallow reaches a fluffy, whipped consistency that is light and smooth. This could take a couple minutes.
  8. Once your balm is ready, scoop it into a clean jar or container for storage.
  9. Apply the whipped tallow balm to face, hands, or feet for deep hydration and nourishment. Enjoy the natural benefits of this rich, soothing balm!
