Red Raspberry Leaf & Ginger Water Kefir

Red raspberry leaf and ginger water kefir is a nourishing and refreshing beverage that can be enjoyed in any season of life. This beverage offers an abundance of vitamins and minerals from the red raspberry leaf and ginger, as well as probiotics and electrolytes from the water kefir. It is particularly beneficial for women's health and can be consumed throughout the day to help ease painful menstrual symptoms, reduce nausea, and to support pregnancy and overall wellness.

Ingredients  

  • 10 g dried or 20 fresh red raspberry leaves
  • 2 Tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 cups fermented unflavoured, water kefir
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions 

  1. Grab your clean, empty jar and your jar of fermented, unflavoured, water kefir.
  2. Add 2 Tbsp of freshly grated ginger and your red raspberry leaves to the clean, empty jar.
  3. Add 1 cup of hot water to the ginger and red raspberry leaves. Let steep for 5-10 minutes.
  4. After 5-10 minutes, add 1 cup of cold water to the jar. This will cool it down before adding water kefir.
  5. After your flavoured jar has cooled down slightly, add your 2 cups of fermented, unflavoured, water kefir to the jar.
  6. Place a lid on this jar of flavoured water kefir.
  7. Let this jar go through a second ferment at room temperature for 1-3 more days, until very bubbly.
  8. After the second ferment, pour into a new jar while straining out the ginger and red raspberry leaves.
  9. Place a lid on this new jar of flavoured water kefir and store in the fridge. Consume within 3-5 days to enjoy the bubbles!

Notes

Water kefir can be served straight over ice, diluted with water, mixed with juice, or even as a kefir cocktail!
