Not only because it is delicious, but it’s also very versatile and allows to me to get a variety of different vitamins, minerals, electrolytes and probiotics into my diet in a natural and refreshing way. What is water kefir?
Water kefir is a fermented beverage that is lightly sweetened, un-caffeinated, gently bubbly, very refreshing and easy to make! For this flavour combination, you’ll need fermented, unflavoured, water kefir.

What You’ll Need
10-15 dried or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup of apple juice – you can also use half of an apple, chopped and mashed
2 cups of fermented, unflavoured, water kefir
2 tbsp of hot water
1 + 1/2 cups of cold water
Clean quart mason jar

How to Make Cranberry & Apple Water Kefir
- Grab your clean, empty jar and your jar of fermented, unflavoured, water kefir.
- Add 10-15 cranberries and 2 Tbsp hot water to the clean, empty jar.
- Add 1/2 cup of apple juice to the cranberries.
- Add 1 + 1/2 cups of cold water to the jar.
- After you’ve added your flavours, add 2 cups of fermented, unflavoured, water kefir to the jar.
- Place a lid on this jar of flavoured water kefir.
- Let this jar go through a second ferment at room temperature for 1-3 more days, until bubbly.
- After the second ferment, pour into a new jar while straining out the fruit.
- Place a lid on this new jar of flavoured water kefir and store in the fridge. Consume within 3-5 days to enjoy the bubbles!
Water kefir can be served straight over ice, diluted with water, mixed with juice, or even as a kefir cocktail!

Ingredients
- 10-15 dried or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup apple juice – you can also use half of an apple chopped and mashed
- 2 cups fermented unflavoured, water kefir
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 1½ cups cold water
Instructions
- Grab your clean, empty jar and your jar of fermented, unflavoured, water kefir.
- Add 10-15 cranberries and 2 Tbsp hot water to the clean, empty jar.
- Add 1/2 cup of apple juice to the cranberries.
- Add 1 + 1/2 cups of cold water to the jar.
- After you've added your flavours, add 2 cups of fermented, unflavoured, water kefir to the jar.
- Place a lid on this jar of flavoured water kefir.
- Let this jar go through a second ferment at room temperature for 1-3 more days, until bubbly.
- After the second ferment, pour into a new jar while straining out the fruit.
- Place a lid on this new jar of flavoured water kefir and store in the fridge. Consume within 3-5 days to enjoy the bubbles!
